1. Speed /RPM

The speed at which a carbide drill is used in a rotary tool will depend on the material used and the resulting profile, but to be sure, speeds above 35,000 RPM are not required. The table below shows some approximate speeds.

2. Apply only a little pressure

As with all drills and burrs, let the burr do the job, applying only a little pressure, otherwise the edge of the groove will cut away quickly or become smooth, shortening the life of the burr.
